The Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer maps that will be in the game apparently won’t be restricted to the sorts of maps that we’ll be doing in the single player, according to a statement by Sledgehammer. The information came from an interview that the studio gave in Edge magazine.
That makes this the second bit of Call of Duty information that Sledgehammer has given us this week. Yesterday they gave us some information about the Call of Duty: WWII Nazi Zombies mode, which Sledgehammer made by drawing on their experiences from developing Dead Space as part of their time with Visceral games.
For Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer maps to not be solely based on various areas from the rest of the game is something of a change; often, multiplayer maps would be close to or in the same area as the maps that showed up in previous games, such as the Special Ops segments of Modern Warfare 3 sometimes taking place in the general area as the Burger Town and other restaurants.
With Call of Duty: WWII focusing on the entirety of the war in Europe following D-Day, we’ll likely get a lot of different maps as we go through France and Germany, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t also get maps in places like Russia, Italy, the Balkans, and other areas in Europe that the war happened in.
We’ll likely get peaks at the Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer maps when E3 rolls around (especially since Sledgehammer couldn’t say more due to an Activision representative in the room during the interview). Hopefully the maps will live up to the hype and players will be able to see a lot of other places in Europe when Call of Duty: WWII releases to Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC in November of this year.
