It’s been over a year since the reveal of Beyond Good and Evil 2 and we are yet to see a proper gameplay demo. However, that is about to change as Beyond Good and Evil 2 gameplay showcase is scheduled for December 10.
The confirmation comes from Guillaume Brunier, producer for Beyond Good And Evil 2. This wouldn’t be the first look at the gameplay but, I am hoping that it will be a proper Beyond Good And Evil 2 gameplay demo instead of just a glimpse.
Aside from the confirmation, Brunier also confirmed that Beyond Good and Evil Fest has been delayed to 2019. The reason for the delay is the developers needing more time to get things ready.
Interestingly, Ubisoft hasn’t revealed target platforms for Beyond Good and Evil 2. Still, the development team has confirmed Beyond Good and Evil 2 mod support.
Game designer, Michel Ancel, confirmed Beyond Good and Evil 2 mod support while replying to a fan. The mod support confirms the PC version of Beyond Good and Evil 2. However, mods are no longer PC exclusive and we might get mod support for the game on console versions too.
It has been 18 years since the launch on Beyond Good and Evil. After such a long wait the expectations are high. However, Ubisoft isn’t concerned about the game’s success.
According to Ubisoft, there isn’t much risk behind Beyond Good and Evil 2. CEO Yves Guillemot noted that the team only wants to develop the best game it possibly can.
I don’t think there’s a risk there. Well, there’s always a risk when we create games, but I don’t think there’s as much risk because [Director Michel Ancel] has been through so many projects. The first Beyond Good & Evil was very good, Michel did what he wanted and what we thought would be the best for the players.
Recently, Ubisoft revealed Beyond Good and Evil 2 characters that players will possibly interact with. Ubisoft detailed JADE, PEY’J, UMA, CALLUM, and THE GADA’S AI.
JADE and PEY’J are the returning characters from the first game. While PEY’J still remains true to his character but, Jade is evil. Considering that Jade is the protagonist of the first game, this is surprising.
As for the other Beyond Good and Evil 2 characters, UMA is the Chief Medical Officer. THE GADA’S AI, as the name suggests, is an artificial intelligence. Last but not least, CALLUM is the Chief Engineer of the crew and the only one smart enough to play against the ship’s AI.
As for the game’s development, Ubisoft is using an entirely new game engine for Beyond Good and Evil 2. According to Ubisoft, Creative director Michel Ancel had a very specific vision and to achieve that vision the team has developed a completely new game engine.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an action-adventure title in development at Ubisoft.
