The original Dishonored came out in 2012, and the game surpassed everyone’s expectations in terms of gameplay and story. While its sequel, Dishonored 2, is just over a month away from launch, many have started to question that will Arkane Studios go for a Dishonored 3, well the studio is not sure itself.
Speaking with Finder, Harvey Smith, co-creative director of Arkane Studios, discussed Dishonored 2 and what lies ahead for Arkane Studios in the future. According to Smith, he has no plans for the future as he does not plan things in advance.
He further explained that with the first Dishonored, he grew a bit sick of it, but the idea for the sequel involving Emily changed his perception, but as for the Dishonored 3 he is quite unsure of it.
I don’t know. I don’t make plans that far in advance. The situation just ahead changes so much, it’s very hard to plan as you end up disappointing yourself or even surprising yourself. After the end of the first game I was really sick of working on Dishonored, but then I had this spark of an idea about Emily and it all lit up for me. So I don’t know what is going to happen; I really don’t know how I am going to feel. By the end of Dishonored 2 I will have worked on the two games for almost eight years, which is a long time.
Recently, Arkane Studios revealed the full achievement list for Dishonored 2, however, in doing so the developers has officially spoiled the game’s story.
While the first Dishonored game had multiple endings depending on certain player decision and how the player chose to play the game. The same will be for Dishonored 2, and according to Harvey Smith, multiple playthroughs will help players to fully understand the game’s story.
While the developer is unsure of Dishonored 3, Dishonored 2 is scheduled to arrive on November 11, 2016 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
