AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Gained A 10-15% FPS After Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update caused a 10-15% FPS boost on GTA 5. Game was tested with AMD Ryzen 5 1600 , RX Vega 56 on ultra settings minus 4X MSAA ..

Recently a user named Captain_Jaxparrow posted on Reddit about performance gains after applying Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on his AMD Ryzen 5 1600. The system used was: Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.8 GHz, 16GB TridentZ RAM sticks @ 3066 MHz, AMD Radeon RX Vega 56. He tested GTA 5 on Ultra settings, except 4X MSAA, high tessellation, and grass.

He clearly gained 3-4 frames when tested the game on both 720p and 1080p. Game Mode was off, inadvertently, by the user. But st, ll that’s free gains of 5-10% off the bat. On the same hardware. Another user reported the same with Shadow of War on his Radeon RX Vega 64.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 favored an increase in the frame rate of each sequence. Judging from the chart that:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

Sequence 0: 58/61 FPS. Sequence 1 56/58 FPS. Sequence 2 63/65 FPS. Sequence 3 68-71 FPS and Sequence 4 63-67 FPS. All on 1080p after the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Same statistics were observed in 720p testing as well.

We all know how well optimized and resource efficient GTA V PC version is. Therefore it is a no-brainer that AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and RX Vega 56 was utilized more efficiently after the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

The cherry on top was when he tested the game after enabling Game Mode on Windows 10. This caused a 10% more bump in the Frames from the above-mentioned numbers. Also reported by the user. Apparently, the game mode after Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has become much more efficiently. It also displays GPU statistics in the Task manager.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 is a very good CPU and competes with Intel’s 7th gen i5 CPUs reasonably. Judging from the performance gain it is still unclear if the gain would apply to all other processors such as Intel CPUs. Will it benefit the Intel users of AMD users of other CPUs/APUs? We will just have to wait and see for ourselves. What are you waiting for then? Upgrade your Windows 10 ASAP and post your gains here!
