The Time Of AMD Ryzen Is Now, All Confirmations, Benchmarks, Price, Performance Figures

AMD Ryzen has been developed from scratch, according to AMD CEO Lisa Su, it has been made starting from a sheet of paper and there was a lot of freedom involved when developing the AMD Ryzen CPUs.

The company wanted to develop a CPU that would work for all kinds of applications and it has been in development for almost 4 years now and hundreds of AMD engineers have been working on producing the AMD Ryzen CPU. The wait is over and AMD Ryzen has been disclosed once and for all, here is what you need to know about AMD Ryzen.

AMD Ryzen

We expected AMD Ryzen to come out last year but because of the decrease in demand in the PC market and other factors, AMD decided to delay the launch. Yesterday at the media event, details regarding AMD Ryzen were disclosed and we have confirmation regarding the top of the line AMD Ryzen 7 8-core CPUs.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700

AMD Ryzen

The R7 1700 is an 8-core processor which has 16 threads. You get a base clock of 3 GHz and a boost clock of 3.7 GHz. SMT is another feature of the processor.

We talked about how the performance of the Ryzen CPUs is on point and all that we need to see is the price and finally, after a long silence the price is official and it is very competitive.

AMD Ryzen

The R 7 1700 costs $ 329. This may not seem much of a price difference as compared to the Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake Core i7 7700K but looking at the price to performance it is making a statement on its own.

You can see the Cinebench scores above and you can see that the R 7 1700 is way better in some applications.

AMD Ryzen

Next, in line, we have the bigger brother, the 1700x which also has 8-cores but has higher clock speeds and with higher clock speeds you get better performance. You can see from the slide above that the Ryzen R 7 1700X is priced at $399 which is less than what you would be paying for the Intel core i7 6800K.

The AMD chip also performs better if you look at the mentioned Cinebench scores. The value for money speaks for itself in this case as well.

AMD Ryzen

The difference between the performance scores of the two processors is 39% which means that you are paying less for more performance and that is bang for your buck.

AMD Ryzen

Not only does this CPU perform better than the 6800K but compared to the 6900K you are getting 4% better performance. Looking at the price there is no doubt that this AMD chip is great value for money.

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X

AMD Ryzen

The 1800X is the top of the line, flagship CPU from AMD. AMD claims that this is the fasted 8-core CPU in the market. This CPU can boost up to 4 GHz but if you have proper cooling then this can go even further than that thanks to the XFR feature that allows the CPU to overclock itself according to the cooling solution being used.

AMD Ryzen

The 1800X is priced half that of the i7 6800K and the numbers speak for themselves here and you can work out on your own whether or not this is good value for money or not. This is an enthusiast-grade CPU for gamers, overclockers and content creators that like to live on the bleeding edge and will not compromise on performance no matter the cost.

AMD Ryzen CPUs Feature Unlocked Multiplier Across The Board

All Ryzen CPUs will feature an unlocked multiplier which means that you can overclock these CPUs and get even more performance out of them for the money that you are playing. This makes Ryzen even more attractive and provides motivation for the average consumer to get an AMD Ryzen CPU.

AMD Ryzen CPUs Feature More Instructions Per Clock

AMD Ryzen

AMD set a goal to increase the number of instructions per clock by 40% and while many thought this was not possible and that this would be something only on paper, AMD has pulled this off and has gone beyond the 40% mark. AMD has beaten their own goal and has managed to achieve an increase of 52%. This is a landmark achievement that company pass once a decade but AMD has managed to pull this off.
