The trade of the gaming business demands a strategic shift every now and then to cope with the threats. Capcom has decided to attend to these associated risks in their new annual report. They want to make the most out of online functionality after releasing AAA titles.
So, in this regard, we will now be seeing new games adding up to their already extensive franchises. Additionally, the life of each game is to get extended by releasing extra DLC. In this way, they would be able to increase their revenues even with their catalog releases.
This fiscal year will get standout titles like Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 Remake before closure. Remember that March 2019 would mark the end of this fiscal year and these two games could end it on a high note. So, the volume sales from DMC 5 and Resident Evil Remake could add to their 19 IPs selling over a million units.
Capcom boss, Kenzo Tsujimoto states in the report how the company wishes to proceed in the future. Kenzo established that DLC and microtransactions help their titles in the long run. He also highlighted that digital reach could be beneficial for the Capcom stock:
“Specifically, new titles will work as growth drivers as we (1) release approximately three major titles each year, (2) extend the sales life of these titles to 3-4 years with additional content and pricing strategies and (3) strengthen our presence overseas, which comprises approximately 85% of the total market,”
Even though previous reports of Capcom Devil May Cry microtransactions got denied. Still, Capcom games should have more microtransactions as per these latest reports.
Moreover, the Resident Evil 2 remake is only the tip of the iceberg for Capcom remakes. But these remakes are going to be like a new game.
