Pinning opponents is an easy and effective way to land good damage in EA Sports UFC 4. Takedowns do not only include pinning your opponent but also defending yourself while being pinned down.
We have broken down the entire Takedown system in UFC 4, but remember, the key to a successful takedown is proper timing.
How to do Takedown in EA Sports UFC 4?
Grounding enemies and assaulting them can be a slow process, but it is a good way to give good damage. If you’re struggling to pin your opponent to the ground, press LT/L2 on Xbox One and X/Square on PS4 while moving towards the opponent.
You need to focus on not getting too close to the cage walls, as this will hinder both of the fighters’ movements and prevent you from performing a successful takedown.
To perform a successful takedown, you need to time it perfectly and wait for your opponent to strike, and that’s when he’ll be most vulnerable to a takedown.
Let’s go over some takedowns and how to do them on Xbox One and PS4.

Takedown Defense in UFC 4
After practicing takedown, you must also learn to counter it. Now, to block against takedown, hold LT + RT on Xbox One and L2 + R2 on PS4. But before, master takedown is in practice mode so you can understand the correct timing to trigger a counter.
If you’re doing everything correctly, press and hold the triggers, but don’t hold the analog stick unless you’ve got to defend the takedown. You only have to use the analog stick when the opponent turns the takedown. For better control, go to the practice mode, update the settings to basic grappling, and practice takedown defenses.
Takedown Defense not Working
Many players are unable to defend against takedowns, and the reasons might be pretty simple: either you are timing your actions slowly, the window is too small to deny the takedown, or you are moving your analog stick in the wrong direction.
