Although it seems that the hype for the debut of STADIA is not at its highest level, especially now that there are a few days left for its debut, the truth is that the team responsible for the new Google gaming offer is ready for the start of operations. They made the decision to be honest as to what will and will not be part of STADIA as of November 19.
The development team held an AMA session on Reddit, where they reported on the start of streaming service operations that, as you know, will be available in select markets. According to the compilation of the most important details (via Kotaku), STADIA will bet on a safe launch and some important features will arrive later. These features will not be available on November 19.
The team reported that the Stream Connect feature, which allows you to enter another person’s game session immediately, will not be available until next year as there are no games that can exploit it. In that sense, it was noted that the first games to support Stream Connect and Crowd Play will arrive in 2020.
On the other hand, the achievement system will be present as soon as STADIA starts operations, but for the moment it will only keep track of the goals achieved by the player without notifying him, even so, users must be sure that their exploits are being registered and as soon as the system allows it, they can presume them publicly.
In the same way, the family sharing option will not be available during the launch of STADIA, but Google revealed that this is a priority option that they hope will be ready by the beginning of 2020. In the case of Buddy Pass (feature that allows a friend to enjoy 3 months free of STADIA) will arrive 2 weeks after the Founders Edition reaches its recipients.
Finally, the information indicates that only the Chromecast Ultra that are included in the STADIA founders package will serve to deploy the service, as general support for these devices will arrive after debut.
Andrey Doronichev, Director of Product for Stadia, made the following statement.
Our approach to releasing features on Stadia is similar to how we run Google Search, YouTube and other Google services: gradual rollout and continuous improvement, based on your feedback. We always start with nailing the key user-journey and then proceed with releasing extra features. YouTube started with ‘watch video.’ For Stadia it’s ‘Play the Game on your biggest screen’.
In other news, do you know someone who pre-ordered Google STADIA and expected to start using it since its launch day? If so, you should inform him/her that it is very likely that they will not be able to do so. This is because Google confirmed that not everyone who pre-ordered the service will receive it on its launch day.
As The Verge reports, Google said they do not guarantee that players who pre-ordered the Founder’s Edition or the Google STADIA Premiere Edition will have it on its launch day. In fact, the company points out that only the first who pre-ordered the Founder’s Edition will be the ones who will have the opportunity to start using the service from its launch day.
In other words, if you did not pre-order the Google STADIA Founder’s Edition from the day the presale started or if you waited to buy the Premier Edition, then you will have to wait longer to start your adventure in this streaming service. The good news is that the wait will not be excessively long, since Google estimates to fulfill all orders in 2 weeks time.
