Modern Warfare 3 Popularity Skyrockets Following Series-Wide Sale On Xbox

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 popularity has skyrocketed following a sale on the Xbox Store, with Modern Warfare 3 being 35% off.

Even though the brand new Modern Warfare game is supposed to be coming out in a few more weeks, right now it appears that all the buzz is on the previous game in the series, Modern Warfare 3. Modern Warfare 3 popularity has been spiking lately after an Xbox Store sale.

The sale, which focuses around the entire Call of Duty series, has caused the population of the game’s multiplayer to jump up to nearly 550,000 players, helped along by its 35% discount on the store. Since the game is also part of the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility service, it fits that its popularity would increase from a sale.

The sale is likely intended to promote the upcoming reboot of the Modern Warfare series, which will be releasing on October 25 on all platforms. The reboot changes the game’s setup to place Captain Price and his team on the trail of biological weapons, at least according to the State of Play trailer from last week.

We don’t exactly know how things are going to go with that game, as we’ve only been introduced to a variety of characters both old and new in that same story trailer. Then again, since it’s rare for people to play a Call of Duty game for the story, the explosion in Modern Warfare 3 popularity might be for Modern Warfare fans to brush up on their multiplayer skills.

So, if you’re on the Xbox One and have been waiting for the new Modern Warfare game as long as a lot of Call of Duty fans have, you can join in the newfound Modern Warfare 3 popularity yourself if you want to play the game on the Xbox One.

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game will be releasing on October 25 of this year for the Xbox One, the Playstation 4, and the PC.
