In Remnant: From the Ashes, there are 3 main classes of weapons. Hand Guns are secondary firearms such as pistols, Long Guns are your primary firearm and Melee Weapons are there for close one on one physical combat. These can be obtained as loot dropped from bosses, found hidden around the world, purchased from Merchants, crafted and even acquired by doing quests.

Crafting Boss Weapons
As you’ve gathered by now, defeating bosses allows you to craft certain weapons. Once you’ve collected the loot they drop, visit the first floor of Ward 13 near the Ward Crystal and interact with the NPC to enter the Crafting Menu.
Lumenite Crystals are the cost of upgrades you get so find them around the world as loot or purchase them. You can upgrade Boss Weapons to +10 and then equip them from your loadout at any time.
