Marvel’s Avengers Video Game Isn’t Open World

Marvel’s Avengers video game isn’t an open world game. Crystal Dynamics is creating something similar to Destiny where players explore a bunch of medium-sized worlds instead of one big open world.

Avengers project will feature a main hub base and players are able to customize their characters with alternate costumes. There is also a skill tree to unlock abilities. Moreover, DLC characters and new environments will be free.

Marvel’s Avengers video game won’t have any loot boxes and pay to win microtransaction. However, there is always caveat with such video games and Avengers project is no different. While it is yet to confirmed, Square Enix’s Avengers project will have microtransactions of some kind and they will most likely be cosmetic items such as costumes, skins, emotes, etc.

Avengers gameplay trailer revealed 5-playable characters but more are expected to be added since this pretty much sounds like a live-service game. The gameplay is more melee focused but it would be interesting to see how the developers handle Thor and Iron Man.

If we look at the Avengers video game trailer it does have minor instances of gameplay for Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk. We are yet to see Black Widow and Captain America in action.

Avengers video game trailer also revealed the star-studded cast. There are notable names from the gaming industry playing a role in Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers.

Avengers Video Game Cast

  • Tony Stark/Iron Man — Nolan North
  • Bruce Banner/Hulk — Troy Baker
  • Thor — Travis Willingham
  • Steve Rogers/Captain America — Jeff Schine
