Apex Legends is going through a tough phase right now as its viewership continues to fall on Twitch. The game’s current average viewership count sits around 34,269 players (for last 7 days). Apex has fallen back at number 10 spot among top games on Twitch. As anyone would expect, Fortnite is back at number 1 spot.
Respawn’s battle royale game did manage to stand out and make huge numbers in the first few months since its release. The developer announced that the game crossed over 25 Million players a week after its launch which is a huge achievement. However, that’s not the case anymore and the game’s Twitch viewership is just an example.
It’s true that nothing lasts forever. Since the game’s peak of 674,070 viewers on Twitch, the current average count of Apex viewers is 34,269 a week. The viewer count shows that more players stopped watching the game as each month has passed since its launch. This decline is most probably a result of not so good patches, Battle Pass Season 1, and persistent bugs causing gamers to shift back to Fortnite.
Epic Games’ Fortnite on the other side continues to grow. It currently has an average of 146,955 viewers. That’s because of the game’s weekly updates, new items, new modes, cross-platform play, and many other things. Epic has mastered the art of pleasing fans and the numbers are proof of how well Fortnite is doing on Twitch.
In short, Apex is now finding itself in a critical phase and Respawn Entertainment has to do something about it to bring back the interest of gamers. In related news, The world’s most popular streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek is also fed up of Apex Legends. He’s one of the players who jumped on the bandwagon to try out every battle royale game including Apex.
Shroud told the fans earlier this week that he was very close to quitting playing Apex Legends forever. He is tired of the games persistent issues including extreme laggy servers, making the game run at a slower speed, something very annoying to see in a 2019 released title. Although it’s not confirmed if Shroud is actually leaving Apex or not but if he does, the game will face another huge decline in its online viewership.
It’s not a dead end for Apex as Respawn and EA can successfully bring old players back or attract newcomers by making things right. First of all, they have to offer better items for Battle Pass owners as it’s one thing players are complaining about. Also, the team should avoid horrible bugs from happening in the game like the recent one which wiped all of the player’s data including progress.
Apex Legends published by Electronic Arts is now available to play on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
