The Outer Worlds will be getting mod support after its launch. According to co-directors Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the game will get support after it is released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, mod support isn’t in development at the time. The studio is discussing it internally but right now the studio is focused on finishing the base game.
Mod support for The Outer Worlds is expected to be similar to Fallout games but developers haven’t yet decided what kind of support the game should have.
We would love for players to be able to mod. We are going to look into that after we shit in terms of what kind of support we can have for it.
Obsidian promised that The Outer Worlds is a game that modders won’t have a finish on their own. This can be considered a direct jab at Bethesda and how it relies on the modding community finish the game. The Outer Worlds is being developed by 20% of the development team from New Vegas.
The Outer Worlds mods will be community created and free of cost. The game is releasing on Steam but as well as PlayStation Network and Xbox Marketplace. How the developer hand mod support for The Outer Worlds on consoles will be detailed on the near future.
The Outer Worlds is a first-person RPG set in our universe but not in our timeline. The game can not be played on first-person as confirmed by Obsidian. There are a ton of customization options and according to Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, there are is a Power Armor equivalent in The Outer Worlds. It is not exactly like the one we saw in Fallout games but is extremely powerful. But rest assured, there are no microtransactions in the game.
The Outer Worlds is releasing sometime in 2019 for console and PC. We expect to see more of it in 2019.
