Rocket League Cross-Platform Play Finally Available On All Consoles

Rocket League cross-platform play is finally available on all of the consoles that the game is on, after years and years of waiting.

After years of stating that they could implement cross-platform play at any time, the folks at Psyonix Games have finally made good on their word. The studio announced today that Rocket League cross-platform play is available on all of its platforms, though it’s so far only in the beta stages.

The fact that this game has begun its cross-platform time on the Playstation 4 is quite interesting as well, considering that the company has been quite resistant to opening up cross-platform play to begin with under a variety of excuses. First they attempted to say they were protecting their users, particularly children, then that they wouldn’t allow it because the Playstation was the best platform to play on.

Rocket League is a sequel to Psyonix’s previous game, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, and has proven to be quite popular in that respect. The game has proven popular enough to be on a wide variety of different consoles, including the Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.

The Rocket League cross-platform play beta is available for all of these different platforms, allowing players to randomly matchmake with others in all of the game’s different modes. This includes Casual Mode, Competitive Mode, and Extra mode.

In order to enable the Rocket League cross-platform play, all you have to do is go to the game’s main menu, go to options, and then head to the gameplay tab. There, you can check the box to make sure the cross-platform play is enabled. You can also play not just with random people, but also create a room or join a match that your friends are in.

So, if you’ve been waiting for Rocket League cross-platform play for a while, and have a Playstation 4, you can now finally play with cross-platform play for friends that have other consoles.
