God of War 2018 is one of the best games we have ever played. All the credit goes to the amazing team behind it and especially to the creative director Cory Barlog who made this all a reality. Cory Barlog of God of War doesn’t need any introduction. But what’s more interesting is to know his favorite PlayStation game of all time and we finally have got an answer.
Choosing a personal hit game for Cory Barlog was very hard. But PlayStation managed to get an answer on its 150 issues of the PlayStation magazine. So his favorite all-time game on PlayStation is Hideo Kojima and Konami’s Metal Gear Solid which released on PlayStation One. Though he mentioned that picking just one game is almost impossible for him.
Wow, this is a really hard question. Picking just one game above all is nearly impossible for me, but if I had to, it would be Metal Gear Solid. I remember being completely blown away with the story, the mechanics and the overall presentation on my first playthrough.
That’s not all as he mentioned Fumito Ueda’s games like Ico, Shadow Of The Colossus and The Last Guardian had a great impact on him.
I would say that Fumito Ueda’s games (Ico, Shadow Of The Colossus, The Last Guardian) had a gut-punch of an emotional impact on me. Storytelling in its purest form that connects to all of us as humans.
And obviously, he was also inspired by the Uncharted series which is made by one of the big studios at PlayStation called Naughty Dog.
The Uncharted series really pushed me as a developer. They managed to raise the bar with every single release and produce an action- packed thrill ride starring characters I wanted to hang out with, and mechanics I can easily pick up and play.
Lastly, he mentioned the Resident Evil series. And how in a particular way the Resident Evil 4 changed the way Cory Barlog looked at video games.
The Resident Evil series. Not only are they great games, but the creators’ willingness to reinvent the game every so often is something I think positively affects our industry. Resident Evil 4 truly changed the way I look at making games.

God of War also managed to get game of the year award at The Game Awards 2018. They totally deserved it. It also seems like Santa Monica Studio is already working on God of War for PlayStation 5 and we can’t wait.
