Major Nelson Announces Games With Gold January Games, Celeste, Far Cry 2, Lara Croft

The four Games With Gold January games are out, and include Celeste, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Far Cry 2, and World Rally Championship 6.

Major Nelson has gone on Twitter to announce the Games With Gold January games, which we can start to pick up when the actual month of January rolls around. These games will all be for free to play both on the Xbox One and its backwards compatibility service for 360 games.

The four games that are included for the Games With Gold January games include indie game Celeste, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Far Cry 2, and WRC 6 FIA World Rally Championship. These games will all be available for free on a variety of dates. Celeste will be available all through January, while WRC 6 will be available from January 16 to February 15, Far Cry 2 will be available from January 16 to January 31, and Lara Croft will be available from January 1 to 15.

Celeste might be the most popular of these games, considering it was up for multiple award nominations at this year’s Game Awards and winning Best Indie Game and Best Game For Impact out of them. The game focuses around a girl named Madeline as she attempts to climb the dangerous Mount Celeste.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is an isometric dungeon crawler with puzzle elements, where players can team up with friends to make their way through the dungeons while battling enemies at the same time.

Far Cry 2 is the precursor to the more modern Far Cry games, where players take on the role of a mercenary in a war-torn African country as you fight against a wide variety of enemy factions, allowing you a large open world and multiple missions to go on.

Finally out of the Games With Gold January games is World Rally Championship 6, a rally car racing game where you must race along narrow and curving tracks at high speeds, with no one to help you but your partner in the passenger seat.

You can pick up any of these games on their start dates when they come around, so hopefully you’ll find something that you want to play out of all four of these.
