The Outer Worlds to be not Big as Fallout: New Vegas, Here’s Why

The Outer Worlds looks great but don't expect it to be as big as Fallout: New Vegas because of Private Division and how limited their budget is.

The Outer Worlds came as a total surprise at The Game Awards 2018 and RPG fans can’t stop thinking about it. One of the big reasons to be excited about it is because it’s being made by the original creators of Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout: New Vegas is considered the best game in the series which is why everyone thinks that The Outer Worlds will be as big as New Vegas.

These are real expectations but don’t expect it to be as big as Fallout: New Vegas because of the new studio and how limited their budget is now. The Outer Worlds is a sci-fi game where you’ll have to make your way through fighting corporations that have taken over. The game does come with studios old humor which the fans loved along with core RPG mechanics.

According to Kotaku, Obsidian communications director Mikey Dowling showed them a brief gameplay of The Outer Worlds. This The Outer Worlds gameplay showed that the game “looks excellent, primed to be a charming, funny game full of dialogue choices and interesting decisions”.

With the recent failure of Fallout 76, many are expecting The Outer Worlds to be the RPG game they have been waiting for a long time but that’s not the case. Yes, it’ll be obviously better than Fallout 76 which has turned out to be a huge disaster by Bethesda.

As for why The Outer Worlds can’t be as big as Fallout: New Vegas.  Because it’s being developed by Take-Two Interactive (parent company of 2K and Rockstar). Obsidian is set to work on big AAA games but they really don’t have a big budget to make another game like Fallout New Vegas. Which is why you shouldn’t expect The Outer Worlds to be a massive open world game full of content and exploration.

According to Obsidian, the game consists of two planets and they are not open worlds. Though each one has areas to explore but not at the same level as New Vegas.

Dowling said in an email:

While we aren’t discussing the exact amount of areas, a good bit of context for the approach is to think of what we did in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, with potentially more ground to cover and explore in each area

Personally, The Outer Worlds seems like a perfect RPG game to try. It doesn’t matter if it’s not that much big. We do have to appreciate Obsidian for bringing us a new game. We do have a lot of expectations from them since Fallout New Vegas. Though people have to stop comparing them with each other.

As for the game goes, it allows you to create a story as you like. Yes, you can do whatever you want as the devs will not force you to do things. Narrative Designer Megan Starks says that the game supports different playstyles. It’ll be up to you to be a hero, a villain or something else. It’s a true RPG experience and everything you do matters including how you interact with other NPCs in the game.

To me, that sounds really good and we can’t wait to learn more about the game as it already looks like a Fallout 76 killer.
