Supermassive Games, the developers of Until Dawn, will be going multiplatform in their upcoming horror anthology game Man of Medan. However, the studio has said that despite this, multiple Supermassive Games PS4 exclusive games will still be coming in the future, and the studio’s relationship with Sony is still very good.
Supermassive Games was catapulted into the public eye in terms of survival horror when they released their survival horror narrative game Until Dawn, which had players take control of a group of teenagers as they attempted to survive a terrifying night in an isolated mountain cabin.
They’ve also created two side games for Until Dawn, both of them VR titles. One, Rush of Blood, is a shooting gallery game with Until Dawn imagery, while the other, The Inpatient, tells the story of the Mount Massive Asylum, specifically the day that the Wendigos broke free and began to rampage through the facility.
Since then, Supermassive has announced their Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of shorter survival horror games in the vein of Until Dawn. The first of these, The Man of Medan, will be coming out in 2019 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. It tells the story of a group of teenagers who attempt to dive and explore a sunken ship, but find themselves trapped on a ghost ship as a storm rolls in.
But with the Supermassive Games PS4 exclusive games that are apparently coming out, we don’t really know what those will be. Since they’re multiplatform games it’s unlikely they’re related to the Dark Pictures Anthology, but there’s no guarantee that they’re horror games either.
Supermassive Games has made a few other non-horror games, such as the LittleBigPlanet titles, the HD remaster of Killzone, and a few others like Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock. But we’ll just have to wait and see what they’re going to come up with for these Supermassive Games PS4 exclusives.
