The Division 2 DLC Won’t Have Timed Exclusives Like The Last Game

Along with the Division 2 DLC being free to all players, the DLC will also not be the victim of the timed exclusive school of thinking.

Ubisoft Massive has some good news for The Division 2 players, especially those who also played the first game. Apparently, this time around the Division 2 DLC won’t have timed exclusives, meaning that every player on every platform won’t have to wait to get access to new content like they use to do.

In the previous Division game, the Xbox One got preferential treatment over the Playstation 4, with Xbox One players getting the game’s first few pieces of DLC a month ahead of time. Now, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case, and no matter what platform you’re playing on everyone will be playing DLC at the same time.

This is definitely a far cry from Destiny, the other big shared-world shooter game that’s out right now, which even after its first game still continued to favor the Playstation 4 in passing out special weapons that Xbox One players wouldn’t be able to get. While that didn’t extend to the actual DLC packs, it was still annoying for a lot of Xbox One players, especially given the huge amounts of time between those weapons coming to the Playstation 4, and being made available on the Xbox One.

What makes the Division 2 DLC even better is that the first brace of downloadable content will be free for all players, so you’ll not only get the DLC at the same time as everyone else, you also won’t have to spend any more money on it.

The previous DLC for the original Division game brought a lot of changes to the game each time, doing things like opening up new areas (like the sewers underneath Manhattan), and new game modes, like the mode that blanketed Manhattan in a blizzard and forced you to make your way to the base in order to not die of exposure and sepsis.

While we don’t know just yet when the Division 2 DLC will be coming out, the actual game comes out on March 15 of next year for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
