Shadow of the Tomb Raider Season pass is going to reveal more information about the game’s world, according to Eidos Montreal. The season pass of the game is connected to the number 7. The number is extremely important to the Mayan world.
The number could have something to do with the implementation of side missions in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, especially, Tomb puzzles. When asked about the connection between the two, Jason Dozois, Narrative Director, revealed that the game’s season pass will open up more information about the game world. He also confirmed that each of the 7 DLCs will feature a Tomb Puzzle.
All we can say right now is that each of seven DLCs will feature a challenge tomb and new information about the game world of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The story of the game revolves around Mayan culture, the sun, sacrifice, and different ages of man. It is inspired by the rich Mayan literature, and architecture.
The story in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is fictional but is inspired by several different Maya and Aztec stories about the sun and sacrifice and the different ages of man.
It is safe to say that these puzzles will definitely have a touch of Mayan to them. The structures and mechanism we will see are going to be heavily inspired by the Mayan culture.
The tombs we’ll get to visit are expected to contain supernatural elements, traps, and possibly Trinity. However, the focus of the tombs is mostly on supernatural and puzzles rather than human enemies. Of course, after completing the puzzles we do sometimes see a wave of enemy soldiers.
In our interview with Eidos Montreal, the development team discussed the totally revamped stealth mechanics and Lara’s guerrilla-style approach to combat. They revealed how Lara would focus less on head-on engagements and more on the kill and hide strategy. She is outnumbered and outgunned and the jungle setting is used to encourage stealth gameplay.
Lara would also be able to use a popular Max Payne feature to her advantage. She can slow down time while aiming down sight. Slowing down time could also play a major role in completing certain tomb puzzles.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider has gone gold and will release on September 18 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
