Fallout Games to Be Completely Developed Internally in the Future: Bethesda

Back in 2010 Bethesda decided to publish Fallout: New Vegas through game developer Obsidian Studios. The developers were commended by the critics for their work on Fallout: New Vegas owing to the in-game features such as detail-oriented open world and exciting quests.

Although the project was well-received by gamers along with supporting reviews from critics, Bethesda’s chief Todd Howard has indicated in an interview that the studio is concentrated more on developing big titles like Fallout series within their own business.

Obsidian, on the other hand, has shown a keen interest in developing more Fallout titles in the future. But Howard isn’t ruling out the possibility of a second party working on Fallout.

now that our company is so big, it’s always better to keep stuff internal.. It becomes less likely, but I could never say never. I thought the Obsidian guys did a fabulous job.

While talking to The Guardian, Howard said that although they aren’t saying never to the possibility, studios shouldn’t hold their breath over it.

Bethesda Studios are operational on a far bigger scale today compared to when Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas for them. Now that Bethesda is standing on a greater stage, development of Fallout series games internally is quite understandable.

Due to stakes being higher than ever Bethesda should control major franchises themselves. Bethesda is dedicated to stretch its operations as far as possible.

A studio has been opened in Montreal back in 2015. In terms of expansion of the company, the Battlecry Studios in Austin, Texas was also renamed and launched as Bethesda Game Studios Austin.

The most recent upcoming title of the Fallout series is going to be Fallout 76 game. After its release, Bethesda is ready to launch the sci-fi video game Starfield followed by The Elder Scrolls later.

Starfield has been in development for 10-years at Bethesda and is the first original IP from the company in a while. According to Howard, Starfield is currently playable and he hinted that it might release on next-gen consoles as well.
