Microsoft’s E3 2018 presentation started with the reveal of Halo Infinite, which was a pleasant surprise and signified the company’s confidence. Not much was shown aside from a trailer, however, speculations were that Halo Infinite might be a prequel or a spin-off. But, the devs have confirmed that the upcoming Halo title is a direct sequel to Halo 5.

Speaking with GTM, studio head Chris Lee talked about the upcoming game and noted how the developing studio is working to create the true Halo experience with the upcoming Halo Infinite.

He confirmed that the studio has listened to the feedback and the game will follow the adventures of Master Chief ” after the events of Halo 5″.

This indicates that Halo Infinite is a direct sequel to Halo 5 which discredits the rumors and speculations that Infinite might be a spin-off like Halo Reach or a prequel set between Halo and Halo 3.

Not only that, the Chris Lee has also confirmed that Infinite will focus primarily on Master Chief as opposed to Halo 5 which focused on Jameson Locke.

Speaking of the game, while 343 Industries did showcase a trailer for the game at E3 2018. However, the trailer was the game engine demo not the representative of the game itself.

Meaning the trailer we saw was to demonstrate the power of the upcoming game’s engine and its ability to render assets and it doesn’t represent the final product.

Halo Infinite is being developed using Slipspace Engine which is 343 Industries’ proprietary game engine.

Developed by 343 Industries and created with our new Slipspace Engine, Halo Infinite was revealed at the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing with a thrilling engine demo that provides a glimpse into the future of the Halo franchise, leading it into new and unexpected directions.

Furthermore, developer 343 Industries hasn’t revealed where the game will set and where the game will be taking the players. But, speculations are making rounds on the internet suggesting that Infinite will be set on Halo Zeta.

This was given away by the game’s very own trailer in the scene inside the tent.

The radio inside the tent is broadcasting a morse code, which when decrypted hints that the game is set on Halo Zeta.

As for what Master Chief is doing on that particular Halo ring, we will have to wait to find out.

Halo Infinite is a first-person action shooter in development at 343 Industries exclusively for the Xbox One.
