With all that rumors circling around over the past days, what we didn’t expect is information about the next Assassin’s Creed title getting revealed so soon. According to numerous sources, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the next addition to the franchise, giving us a chance to travel to ancient Greece.

The Assassin’s Creed Odyssey report comes from Kotaku, where several sources confirmed that this is the name of the next installation to Ubisoft’s flagship franchise. According to them, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be similar to Origins but will be an “even more of a drastic departure for the series” than its predecessor.

For the first time in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will feature dialogue options, giving the title an adventure style. Furthermore, You’ll be able to play as either a male or a female protagonist which will be completely new characters.

Regarding its release date, we have a release window of the fiscal year 2019 which ends on March 31st, 2019, according to Kotaku’s sources. Nothing of the information mentioned above is confirmed by Ubisoft so things might change in the future. However, a tipster sent Kotaku shots of an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey keychain with an ancient Greek helmet which is said to be arriving at stores today.

If the report is true, then the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Odyssey might have something to do with ancient Greece poet Homer’s Odyssey. The mythological story is about Odysseus and his journey to travel back to his homeland after the Trojan war. We don’t expect the title itself to go into such depth the story does – although we hope so – however, if the game’s name has anything to do with Odysseus story, then we might be facing the best Assassin’s Creed title up to date.

We expect to hear more about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at E3 2018, which is the biggest Ubisoft showcase before March 19th which is the end of the release window revealed by all sources.
