Insomniac Games has expressed a number of times that they would like to bring the game to PC but, it’s Microsoft’s decision and while the company hasn’t announced it but Sunset Overdrive has been rated in Korea.
The Korean Game Rating Board has listed the Sunset Overdrive for PC which might indicate that Microsoft will be announcing the PC version of the game at its E3 2018 press conference.
Insomniac Games has also shown interest in developing a sequel to Sunset Overdrive but, sadly its Microsoft’s decision. According to Insomniac Games president Ted Price, the IP is under the direction of publisher Microsoft Studios and added “You’d have to ask Microsoft” why there is no Sunset Overdrive sequel two years after the launch of the first game.
We are passionate about that franchise, and we own it, so you may see more Sunset in the future from us. No promises, and no timeline to speak of, but it is something that represents our willingness to create unexpected experiences.
The game’s listing for PC comes as a surprise since the game hasn’t been enhanced for the Xbox One X as the studio confirmed last year that it won’t be enhancing the game for Xbox One X.
However, the studio might have changed its mind and we might be seeing Xbox One X enhancements coming to the game along with the PC version’s release.
Insomniac Games is the same developer working on the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, Spiderman PS4, and the devs have revealed that Spider-Man’s game world is “several times larger” than Sunset Overdrive’s Sunset City.
Also, Insomniac Games has revealed that the upcoming PlayStation 4 game will not be an origin story. Peter Parker will be 23 years old in the game and has been fighting crime in the game for 8 years.
Sunset Overdrive is an open-world action shooter developed by Insomniac Games exclusively for Xbox One.
