Rumor: Spiderman PS4 Could Be Set in the Same Universe As Square Enix’s Avengers Game

Spiderman PS4 could be set in the same universe as the Avengers game from Square Enix. The title is being developed by Crystal Dynamics as we speak.

Spiderman PS4 is releasing in September but there is still plenty that we don’t know about the game. However, a recent GameInformer piece gave us an in-depth look into the world of Spiderman. Most details were already known but some new information sparked speculation.

One of the things being discussed is the possibility of the Avengers appearing in the game. Not only that, but the game could be set in the same universe as Square Enix’s Avengers game. If that’s true, we may be looking at a detailed Marvel Universe kicking off within video games.

But there is just one problem, Spiderman PS4 is exclusive to Sony while the Avengers game from Square Enix is multi-platform. Still, the idea of a Marvel Universe developing in video games is highly intriguing.

The rumor is based on a certain aspect of the new gameplay footage shared to GameInformer. The Avengers tower aka the Stark Tower was confirmed to be a part of Spiderman PS4. This means that we may very well see the Avengers make a cameo in Spiderman.

Moreover, it is being speculated, based on the following Tweet, that Square Enix’s Avengers game is based in the same universe.

Avengers

The game is being developed by Crytal Dynamics, the development team consists of devs from Naughty Dog and the now-defunct Visceral Games. Crytal Dynamics is commited to delivering “an incredible, completely original Avengers experience”

More details about the game are expected in the coming months.
