Anthem’s Lead Writer Leaving Won’t Affect Development: BioWare
Announced by BioWare and EA back at E3 last year, Anthem is the publisher’s answer to Activision and Bungie’s own Destiny series. Anthem is unique game for BioWare, the studio responsible for Dragon Age and Mass Effect games. Expectations are high but the development isn’t going as well as EA would have hoped.
The lead writer Drew Karpyshyn announced that he is resigning from BioWare to focus on other projects. Drew left before Mass Effect 3 and we know how that turned out. He rejoined the studio for Anthem but is leaving once again.
Drew Karpyshyn is the lead writer of Mass Effect 1 & 2 which is known for its addictive storyline so since the announcement fans are concerned and worried about the writer leaving the studio and how that may affect Anthem.
Addressing the concerns, Casey Hudson Tweeted to the community: ”Story will always be an important part of every BioWare game.
Drew has wrapped up his work on the project, but Anthem’s Lead Writers and their teams continue to do amazing work developing the world, story, and characters.”
Lead producer Michael Gamble added that story has always been a “huge part” of BioWare games, and that won’t change in response to the people concerned about Anthem.
So this tells us that Drew Karpyshyn finished the story before leaving so fans can rejoice, for now.
As for Karpyshyn, one of the greatest writer in video games industry and lead writer of the Mass Effect franchise, he’ll be working on some original novels and freelance gaming projects after leaving BioWare, as previously reported.
Please don’t email me asking for more information about why I’m leaving – there is no dirty laundry I’m just waiting to air. And please don’t ask about any BioWare projects I’ve been working on – just because I’ve left BioWare doesn’t mean I’m going to start blabbing all their secrets.
We got a trailer at E3, but since then EA has been pretty quiet on the status of the game. Anthem is expected to release next year on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
