Opinion: Mr. Trump If Guns Don’t Kill People Neither Do Video Games

Last week’s horrific shooting in Parkland Florida triggered and gave new life to the debate over safe gun laws. The community wants to protect its children¬† and it is pushing Govt toward stronger gun regulations; in an attempt to make sure these weapons don’t get into the hands of the deranged.

However, the NRA and NRA backed officials are blaming video games and films for promoting violence, rather than talking about stronger gun regulations. After Kentucky Governor blaming video games, now the president himself has pointed fingers at this form of entertainment as well.

Trump said that they are going to be looking at video games and movies. Movies and video games apparently are the reason behind gun violence in the United States, not the lack of gun control.

They are not planning to ban the guns these people used to attack and take innocent lives. However, it is the video games that need to be regulated, according to the Republicans.

Billions of people play video games and it is a fact that more people play video games than own guns. If there were proper background checks in place you wouldn’t be giving a gun to the person with mental health issues. If you make the argument that “he would have gotten in any way,” than it is best that we make all illegal acts legal. Rape, assault, robbery, everything should be legal because people would do it anyway, right?

The fact is that we have laws in place to deter criminals and give them something to fear. There is no evidence to support Trump’s or anyone else’s claim that video games kill people or make them violent. However, it is a fact that guns kill people and lack of gun control makes it easier for the crazy to take lives of your children while Trump’s kids are protected by the highest levels of security.

In fact, video games are helping people deal with their depression and a recent study pointed out that games may help treat schizophrenia.

We are yet to see what they plan to do and it would be interesting to see if they regulate video games and films, but an incident like Florida still takes place. We wonder what they’ll blame next but we know what they won’t blame, guns!

If games are regulated than titles like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Doom, Grand Theft Auto, PUBG, and many others may end up taking a major hit. The NRA backed officials are doing everything they can to protect their own interests and may use video games and films as their scapegoats.

This is a developing story so will have more for you as soon as further information is shared. Let’s hope the Trump administration or any other that comes after it gets enough sense to understand that they need gun control in the United States.
