We knew for quite some time now that a new Battlefield title might be in the works by DICE. While we’ve heard the rumors and made our expectations, a new job opening at DICE in the Battlefield franchise now indicates that the project is true and requires the cinematic eye of a good producer.
According to the job opening, the studio is looking for a Senior Producer to add to the team of the homonymous franchise. The requirements the producer must have are pretty high and that means that DICE won’t experiment when it comes to Battlefield. Between AAA title experience and at least six years of experience, the producer must have “excellent understanding of the current shooter market and competition”, meaning that this new Battlefield game will also be competitive and aims for the 1st place. The job description reads:
We are now looking for a Senior Producer to join one of our teams on the Battlefield franchise. As the Senior Producer you will be the primary owner of the project and you will report to the franchise Executive Producer. Our ideal candidate has a strong passion for console and PC gaming in general and shooters in particular. You should also have a track record of shipping several AAA titles in a product owner/producer role.
TheAlmightyDaq, the guy that leaked information about Battlefield 2018 in December and has previously given information that was found credible for Battlefield 1 has also talked about this new Battlefield project during a QnA at that time. He then revealed that the Battlefield 2018 title will be released in 2018 and the Battlefield Bad Company 3 will be released “right after it or a full year after it”.
If what he says is true then DICE is looking for a producer for either Battlefield 2018 or Bad Company 3. Whichever is true, Battlefield fans will probably have a bunch of good news announced this year.
