How will it be to game on PS5 or the next Xbox? Well, there are so many speculations and rumors that we can’t paint an accurate picture. However, one thing is for sure, cloud infrastructure will have a major role to play. PS5 and the next Xbox are still a couple of years away and according to Hajime Tabata, he sees cloud-based games becoming a thing.
Speaking with the official Xbox magazine, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata stated that “since movies and
music are already in the cloud, I imagine that games will be next.” Cloud-based games, such as Crackdown 3, are hard to develop but with the passage of time, the technology is progressing making it easier for developers to use the cloud.
PS5 and the next Xbox will release sometime between 2020-2021. Surely, by now these machines are in early stages of development. Ubisoft recently stated:
We really like the fact that Sony and Microsoft are really putting more power in their machines, using the evolution of technology to give power to our developers to create better games for our players. That is going in the right direction rather than trying to do accessories or other things. That is going to help the industry a lot because the games will be really beautiful on those machines.
The new consoles are expected to be technologically advanced and with the progression of hardware, development tools, and techniques will also change, which is what Tabata expects to see.
Cloud-based games will mark a major milestone for games development and online infrastructure. However, it will take a while before the concept becomes mainstream.
