Meet AQP City, An Open-World Game Inspired By Red Dead And GTA
A new open-world third person game called AQP City has apparently started a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, promising a vast open world with a lot of vehicles to operate, along with a lot of other crazy situations you can get your character into. The game has been in development since 2012.
Apparently inspired by the open-world areas of Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto, AQP City (or, to use its real title, AQP: The White City) allows players to take on a variety of different vehicles such as cars, jets, motorcycles, boats, or horses as they explore the vast area around the game.
The game’s city and the landscape around it is based off of the city of Arequipa in Peru, where the game’s developer Jhosep Chevarria Capacoila is from. The game originally started off as a thesis project but has apparently grown enough that Capacoila wants to make a fully-fledged indie game out of it.
The game was announced on Indiegogo alongside a gameplay trailer that showed off a lot of stuff you could do in the game, ranging from exploring the game’s beautiful environments to doing parkour as you run through an exploding building, to shooting down police helicopters. In order to succeed, the game’s Indiegogo campaign has to raise $30,000 dollars.
While we don’t really know anything about the game beyond its most barebones description (for instance, whether or not it has a story or anything else to do other than simply wander around), it certainly looks like an ambitious and promising project. Whether or not it’s successful now depends on how many backers that Capacoila can attract with it, and then whether or not he can follow up on the promises he makes.
There’s no release date yet for AQP City, but hopefully the developer will be able to keep up a consistent schedule unlike many other indie games that are successfully funded but never come out.
