Star Wars Battlefront 2 publisher EA’s marketing team has come up with an AMA for Reddit. The Star Wars Battlefront 2 AMA will be hosted by DICE Executive Producer John Wasilczyk, Dennis Brannvall, Associate Design Director, and Paul Keslin, Producer.
The community over at Reddit is ready to rip these three apart which is highly unfair. The development team can’t control the monetization aspect of Battlefront 2, that’s all EA. The worst part is that Dennis Brannvall the design director was promoted days ago so he’ll be taking the heat for unpopular decisions made by the rest.
The Reddit threat is expected to become hostile and it is clear that EA is throwing DICE under the bus for the decisions made by EA itself. We urge the community to remain calm and conduct the AMA with civility as these developers had very little to do with what happened with Star Wars Battlefront 2.
EA not only used microtransactions to ruin Battlefront 2 but it did the same with Need for Speed as well. Instead of a garage to upgrade our cars, we now have speed cards.
The situation escalated to the point where industry personnel including Randy Pitcher spoke about “games as services.” Blizzard, on the other hand, took to Twitter and used StarCraft II to take jabs at Battlefront 2.
EA defended its position but it made the situation worst as that reply became the most downvoted comment in Reddit history. But the company didn’t stop there, CFO Blake Jorgensen now stats that Battlefield 4 had even deeper microtransactions.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is releasing on November 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and EA Origin for PC.
