Far Cry 5 coop player progression is something that has been the topic of discussion for a while. There have been a number of reports saying that only Player 1 is going to keep his progression while the player 2 will have to complete the mission all over again in his own game.
Speaking with SegmentNext, Far Cry 5 producer Darryl Long, stated that the game offers a very balanced experience. Both players will be able to enjoy and explore the world on their own. However, Player 2 won’t be able to keep progression beyond rewards, perks, loot etc.
Player 2 won’t share mission progress and will have to do it all over again it his own game himself or use the “For Hire” system to bring in another player for help.
The game is balanced to provide a great experience whether you are playing co-op or single player, so the purpose of playing the game is “FUN” in either case! You invite a co-op player into your game as part of our new “For Hire” system, and that player helps you advance through your campaign in the same way a Guns For Hire like Boomer or Nick Rye would, overcoming difficult missions. Players who are invited into co-op keep all of their personal progression (e.g. perks, loot, rewards, etc.), but then they are free to enjoy the world on their own as well.
Far Cry 5 is releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Ubisoft also confirmed support for Xbox One X and recently announced a new special edition of the game.
