THQ Nordic Says There Won’t Be Big Marketing Pushes For Darksiders 3, Biomutant
THQ Nordic, the successor to THQ who went down several years ago, has announced that there will not be any big marketing pushes for two upcoming games: Darksiders 3, and Biomutant. Apparently, it’s to avoid wasting money in regions where the return on investment wouldn’t be very high after the games release.
Darksiders 3 and Biomutant are both open-world RPG fighters, though that’s where the similarities end: in Darksiders 3 you play as Fury, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as she hunts down the Seven Deadly Sins, who have escaped their prisons in the chaos of Armageddon.
Biomutant has you starring as a cute little raccoon creature that wields a sword twice as big as he is, along with a gun, as he travels through a wondrous world filled with amazing creatures accompanied by the snarky (and thankfully adjustable) chatter of a narrator.
According to THQ Nordic executive Phillip Brock, the reasoning behind there not being big marketing pushes for the two games is because both games will likely sell more in America than they will in other areas like Europe. With these in mind, they’re apparently not going to make as much of an effort advertising in Europe and other regions as they do in America.
Either way, hopefully both this returning IP and the brand new IP will be successes for THQ Nordic, and hopefully avoid the dreaded sales deficit and other numerous missteps that caused the original THQ to have to close down, leaving series like Darksiders floating freely until another studio could pick them up.
Darksiders 3 is supposed to be releasing sometime next year, and will be for the Xbox One, the Playstation 4, and the PC. Biomutant has the same release schedule. We’ll likely see more about both hopefully at next year’s E3 or the Playstation Experience later this year.
