Tekken 7 Kazuya Strategy Guide
Playing as Kazuya
Kazuya in Tekken 7 is all about punishing his opponent’s mistakes and capitalizing on them. He has many mix-ups and all the traits of Mishima i.e. Devil Jin and Heihachi. These traits include a Crouch Dash to close in the gap and a EWGF as a launcher and combo-starter. His Hellsweep has a strong jab confirm that he can use on wall and as a wall-splatter. However, unlike Devil Jin and Heihachi, his poking game is relatively weaker and he must rely on punishments. Therefore, when playing with him, you must learn to play defensively.
He also has access to a Devil form once he has rage that he can also trigger during combos. As mentioned earlier, he has incredible punishment attacks that you can use to start combos. For instance, his WS + 1, 2 is an i13 WS launcher that lets him punish low attacks better than any other character in the game.
Coming to his combo potential, one of the first things that you need to know is that Kazuya does not have the standard d/f + 2 or u/f + 4 launchers. Therefore, you must learn his EWGF in order to start combos. As a starting combo, you can use EWGF, d/f + 1, 4, Screw!, 1, 2, 4, 3. With this combo, you will only connect the last 4, 3 and not the 1, 2 so do not worry about it!
If you need some additional damage, you can try EWGF, EWGF, d/f + 1, 4, Screw!, Crouch Dash + 4, 1. Since it is easy to wall carry opponents with Kazuya, your go-to combo needs to be 1, 2, b + 4. If you need something that is high risk, high reward, you can try f + 4, b + 4.
Overall, Kazuya in Tekken 7 has incredible punishments, good space-control, great mobility with wavedash, and high damage output. On the other hand, he has poor poking game as compared to other Mishima characters. Therefore, you must try to play defensively.
