AMD Radeon RX Vega Official Announcement To Be Made At SIGGRAPH In Late July 2017

There were a number of rumors regarding AMD Radeon RX Vega GPUs to be showcased at Computex 2017 but it was disappointing that none of them turned out to be true. There was a Prey game demo, we saw AMD Radeon RX Vega GPUs running the game at 4K resolution but that was not what we wanted to see. By now we have seen the GPU running games at 4K. No big deal.

What we wanted to hear was the official announcement and I think I speak for a couple of people here when I say that we wanted a reveal. We needed to see what the gaming Vega GPUs looked like. At the end of the AMD press conference at Computex AMD CEO Lisa Su did confirm that AMD Radeon RX Vega will be announced at SIGGRAPH.

So what we have here is another date. We have waited about a year now so it might be worth waiting a few more weeks. AMD Vega GPUs are expected to be released to the masses by the end of July but we have heard rumors that the initial batch of GPUs won’t be that big and that there will be about 16,000 GPUs available at launch.

There is much about AMD Radeon RX Vega that we do not know but now we do have a fixed date to look forward do and I am hoping that these upcoming GPUs are worth the wait and do not disappoint. AMD also announced AMD Threadripper and shared more details regarding the AMD Ryzen platform. We know that AMD Ryzen is scalable and it looks like AMD is going to take full advantage of this.

Let us know what you think about AMD RX Vega being announced at SIGGRAPH at the end of July instead of Computex.
