It has been over a month since the launch of Nintendo Switch, which also outsold PS4 and Xbox One for the month of March, and now a report has emerged suggesting Nintendo will launch a Nintendo Switch mini in its fiscal year 2018.
According to a report from Citigroup Inc(via Bloomberg), despite Nintendo Switch being a hybrid console, it is still quite large for children and this could result in Nintendo releasing a Nintendo Switch mini.
Although the Nintendo Switch can be used as a handheld device, we think smaller children could struggle to use it comfortably in that format due to its size and weight,” Citigroup Inc. analysts Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap. wrote in a recent report. “Accordingly, we think Nintendo will launch a lighter, dedicated handheld version of the Switch, possibly to be called the Switch Mini.
The report further suggests that Nintendo Switch mini could sell 6.7 million units in 12 months through March 2019 and the standard Nintendo Switch will have sold 25.7 million units by then.
Also, Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch users will be able to purchase the dock for the console separately starting next month.
The dock will be available in limited quantities starting from May 19 in North America. Nintendo Switch dock will be priced at $89.99 and will include the dock, AC adapter, and an HDMI cable.
