Xbox One X is the name of Microsoft’s Project Scorpio, according to a new rumor. In all honestly, it sounds like a very dumb name for a new machine. Xbox One X, rumor has it, is going to be announced this Thursday.

After the announcement, Microsoft will spend the next month or so hyping up the new machine before fully revealing it to the public at E3 2017 in June.

There will be no word regarding its price until June at E3 2017. Microsoft will remain in tease mode but we are expecting to hear official specs for Project Scorpio aka Xbox One X.

Microsoft’s E3 2017 press event will kick off on Sunday, June 11 at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.

Microsoft’s Xbox One X will be capable of running games at native 4K, according to the company’s claim. It won’t be an easy task as some of the most powerful GPUs even struggle at 4K 60FPS. But the most important aspect is going to be the price point.

Somewhere between $350 to $450 seems like the sweet spot for Xbox One X. Anything above that and Microsoft will have a hard time convincing buyers.

A steady flow of games is also key for Microsoft’s success. On Xbox One, the lack of games has struck the company hard, resulted in the number two position this console generation.

On top of that, cancellation of fan favorites like Scalebound and Fable Legends didn’t do any favors to the company’s reputation and its Xbox brand.

E3 2017 is probably the most important event ever for Xbox.
