A UK retailer, BASE has recently updated their listing for Red Dead Redemption 2 release to be on September 26, 2017. The game is scheduled for launch in fall of 2017.
So the question here is, has BASE leaked the release date before the official announcement or is this just a mistake?
This date matches up perfectly with the Fall 2017’s given window, and the date falls on Tuesday, which is the day when most video games are released. So there is that as well.
There was a similar report in 2016, according to which Red Dead Redemption 2 release date for PS4 was on October 20, 2017.
And this latest rumour shows the release date for Xbox One to be 26 September, 2017.
Before a game is released there are always rumours flying around to tease us, or raise our expectations for the game.
Some of the rumours flying around since last year include
- This game is going to be a prequel to the first Red Dead Redemption.
- Actor Matt Bradford, who is know for his role in The Last Ride will be a part of this game.
- In this game we will have three protagonists, similar to GTA V.
- And that there won’t be a Nintendo Switch version of the game.
Well that last one might not be a rumour since Switch is known for being ignored most of the time, sorry Nintendo.
So you see Red Dead Redemption 2 is not new to speculation. However, in my opinion reports about a release date are different than these other rumours, because they actually give you a date to look forward to, instead of just waiting around without any marks on the calendar.
So now we just have to wait for September. However, even if the game does not come out as speculated, it would come out in either November or December. We would have to be patient for just one or two more months, since its release is confirmed in 2017 by Rockstar games.
