Legend of Zelda director Eiji Aonuma is so confident in how big the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is that he says that there’s no way a person can complete Breath of the Wild and do everything even if they had a week to do it.
The size of the upcoming Zelda game, which will be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch when it releases on March 3, has often been used as a selling point.
Being twice as big as the already expansive map of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the Breath of the Wild map will have around 120 different sanctuaries and dungeons for Link to explore as he attempts to save Hyrule from the evil entity known as the Calamity Ganon.
Aonuma’s oddly specific timetable is in reference to Jirard Khalil, otherwise known as “The Completionist”, who is known for doing everything possible in a game every week. However, Aonuma’s confident that even someone with Khalil’s skills won’t be able to complete Breath of the Wild in that period of time.
The 120 sanctuaries that are scattered across Hyrule aren’t going to be the only things that are in Hyrule, either. Aonuma says that there are also 76 side missions, 900 Korok seed puzzles, and a large number of minigames that players will have to complete in order to hundred-percent the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is going to be Link’s biggest adventure yet, and with an open-world Hyrule that Link can explore, and an open-ended story that can end in two hours with Link making a beeline across the landscape to Hyrule Castle to fight Ganon, Nintendo has apparently done its best to make certain that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is something that’s going to keep people coming back to the game as often as possible to do everything they can.
