Original Story: Battlefield 1 Rent a Server Program was announced before the release of the game. EA confirmed that there will not be any third party servers but instead, the company will be providing servers itself.
The rent a server program promised to allow players to set up their own private and public Battlefield 1 servers, with control over different gameplay options and map rotations. While there are different kinds of customization options in the mix, there are many ket features missing from Battlefield 1 rent a server program.
You can only add 6 maps to a rotation which means when more maps release with DLC, you won’t be able to enjoy most of your favorite maps. EA DICE is yet to add a ban list which means you can not clear out toxic players from your server. It limits your control over the level of toxicity in the game’s you host.
Moreover, there is no server menu so you also have no control over kicking players, choosing the next map, balancing teams and more. Host can not disable “skill-based” auto-balance. Reserving spots for yourself, admins, or VIPs is not possible in EA’s rent a server program.
To make matters worse, you pretty much have no admin privileges or are allowed to set anyone else as an admin. Weapons customization isn’t any better as well. Renters are not allowed to remove a certain type of weapon nor you can remove The Behemoth.
Battlefield 1 rent a server program is not in the best of shapes right now but that doesn’t mean EA DICE won’t add more features in the future. Hopefully, these crucial additions are made soon to improve player experience.
Battlefield 1 is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
