CD Projekt RED hasn’t revealed any sort of information about when its upcoming science fiction RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing, but now, at least, we have a rough idea. According to the studio, the Cyberpunk 2077 release date will be sometime before 2019, so we’ll have a two-year window to wait before the game releases.
Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced in 2013, but CD Projekt RED has mainly been prioritizing The Witcher series over Cyberpunk, with fairly little information coming from it. Now that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is over, however, CDPR can now focus on Cyberpunk.
It’s even been confirmed by them that the team currently working on Cyberpunk 2077 is bigger than what was working on Wild Hunt at its most intense point of development.
The Cyberpunk 2077 release date will only be the beginning, too. CD Projekt RED has said that they will be releasing two high-quality, triple A games between 2016 and 2021, so players can expect another quality game to come out after Cyberpunk.
We may not even have that long to wait until Cyberpunk 2077 comes out; The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took around three and a half years to develop, so we may be getting it sooner than we think. However, Cyberpunk got put on the backburner while The Witcher series was being developed, so it’s likely that Cyberpunk will have longer to go before the game comes out.
Either way, at least we know that the game coming out in a few years means that CD Projekt RED will be able to give it a good amount of quality that will ensure a good product either on the level of or superior to Wild Hunt.
In the meantime, fans of CDPR will just have to keep a close eye on the studio and see if they ever start to show off Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 or other conferences like it.
