Wall Street Journal Predicts Nintendo NX Announcement This Week
According to a reporter from the Wall Street Journal, it’s possible that the gaming community might be seeing a Nintendo NX announcement sometime this week. The guess came from the reporter (Takashi Mochizuki)’s own Twitter, though he also said that Nintendo has not given any confirmation about an announcement.
Indications have been coming since around two weeks ago that the Nintendo NX announcement would be coming on the October Nintendo Direct that will apparently be coming on October 21, the fifth anniversary of Nintendo’s half-hour program that shows off what Nintendo is working on and what will come out soon.
The Nintendo NX hasn’t even been mentioned by Nintendo itself, though a number of different patent leaks and other hints of its existence have been leaked from time to time onto the internet. However, despite all of these hints, if there is a Nintendo NX announcement sometime this week it will be the first official confirmation of the console’s existence.
At least one game for the Nintendo NX has already been revealed, mainly the upcoming Legend of Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, which will be a launch title for the console.
A tentative release date of sometime in March of next year has also been stated. However, no other games have been said. If the NX does get announced sometime this wee, Nintendo may also reveal games that will be coming with it.
On the other hand, there could also not be an announcement. After all, Mochizuki’s Tweet simply refers to “speculation”, not “confirmation.” While there could be a Nintendo Direct this week, and while that could include a Nintendo NX announcement, it’s also just as likely that Nintendo may wait even longer before they officially announce the console, though they’ve said “within the year”.
Either way, we’ll just have to wait and see if this week passes by with an uneventful sigh.
