Tons of EA, Origin Accounts Compromised; Electronic Arts Denies Breach

It appears that EA/ Origin account details for a number of users were hacked but Electronic Arts has denied breach at their end.

Recently, a long list of user login details for EA/ Origin was shared online by some unknown hackers, suggesting that the services had been compromised and confidential information of a number of users leaked online.

The list, including emails and passwords users, was uploaded to pastebin for a short period of time and then taken down. However, it has been reported that some of the accounts included worked.

Interestingly, Electronic Arts has denied that the user data was breached at their end for Origin. Instead, it could be that the details were obtained elsewhere.

Privacy and security is our top priority at EA. At this point, we have no indication that this list was obtained through an intrusion of our account databases. In an abundance of caution, we’re taking steps to secure any account that has an EA or Origin user ID that matches the usernames on this list.

As always, we encourage all players to safeguard their account credentials and use unique usernames and passwords on all online accounts.

Whether Electronic Arts’ security system was breached or not, the list was legit which means everyone should tread with caution. It would be advisable that all the EA/ Origin account holders set up a two step authentication for their logins.

Keep checking back for more updates on this.
