Natural Selection 2 Announced as PC Exclusive

Natural Selection 2 has been available in beta form for a while now, but not it’s reaching the final development stages and it’s beginning to look better than ever.

It’s a stand-alone sequel to what was a very popular mod for Hal-Life. The game pits a team of sci-fi marines up against a team of various aliens in a classic sci-fi scenario.

It looks like a generic class-based TDM shooter, but it sets itself aside by putting one player in the role of the Commander, who plays the game more like an RTS; building bases and defenses, organising resource generators and giving strategic commands and orders all from a bird’s-eye persepective.

We’re not going to be seeing a release for Natural Selection 2 until late August unfortunately, but the developers are heavily encouraging players who are interested to pre-purchase it now and get instant access to the work-in-progress beta.

The developer, Unknown Worlds, are trying to be as up-front as they can about the beta of their new game, telling people that if you do want to opt into the beta now then expect a lot of bugs whilst they work to the final product.

Natural Selection 2 will be available on Steam, and there’s already talk about hosting a free weekend for people once the game is released so that you can try before you buy.
