The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is going to feature a 15GB day one patch on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when the MMO releases on June 9, Bethesda Softworks has announced.

According to the publisher, the update includes the remaining portion of the game that is not included on the standard 50 GB Blu-ray disc since it’s just too large. This makes the total game size to come at 65 GB.

“We’re sure everyone is interested to know the size of the game client in order to get your hard drives ready. ESOTU is an incredibly massive game, both in terms of sheer scope and the data required to bring you this truly enormous experience. At the moment, the client will exceed a 50GB Blu-ray disc which means there will also be a large day-one patch that is somewhere in the region of 15GB,” explained Bethesda on the game’s official website.

It goes without saying that 15GB is a pretty hefty patch to be downloading from launch day. Mortal Kombat X coincidentally also received a 15GB patch but which went live about four days after the initial release.

This also brings us to the worrisome consumers who feel that the current 500GB drives for the current-gen consoles are limited. Sony and Microsoft will hopefully announce a 1TB version at E3 2015 in June.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited no longer requires a subscription, but players will still need to buy a copy upon release.
