Injustice 2 Will Feature Microtransactions But It Won’t Be “Pay To Win”

NetherRealm Studios has announced that Injustice 2 will feature a microtransaction system once the game launches in May 2017.

NetherRealm Studios has announced that Injustice 2 will feature a microtransaction system once the game launches and has assured fans that it will not operate on a pay to win model.

According to NetherRealm Studios, the game will have a premium in-game currency called Source Crystals through which players can purchase cosmetic items or can level up faster.

Source Crystals are a new type of currency available in Injustice 2 that are used to purchase cosmetic features for characters. Source Crystals can be purchased using real money but aren’t required to progress or advance in the game and can’t be used to purchase Gear or an advantage in gameplay. We value our community and want to be clear – you cannot ‘pay to win’ with Injustice 2.

NetherRealm Studios further said that the game has a “Transform Gear” loot system that will utilize Source Crystals as well.

Transform Gear allows you to apply the visuals of one piece of Gear to another piece. For example, if you have a piece of Gear with your perfect stat loadout but it doesn’t have your perfect look, you can apply the visuals from one of your other pieces of Gear to it. After using Transform Gear, your Gear piece will have your preferred stats matched with your preferred visuals.

In related news, NetherRealm Studios has teased the reveal of next character for Injustice 2. The studio posted a teaser image on the Injustice 2 website that teases the reveal of the next Injustice 2 character for March 23. However, the image itself has no clues about the upcoming reveal.

Injustice 2 is an upcoming fighting game in development at Netherrealm Studios and is scheduled to launch on May 16, 2017, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
