EA has already confirmed that DICE is developing Star Wars Battlefront 2 and will launch this year. Now EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has shared some new details about the upcoming Star Wars game.
Speaking during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, Jorgensen said that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is “dramatically larger” than 2015’s Star Wars Battlefront. He also confirmed that the sequel will feature “a lot of new characters” from the newer Star Wars movies. He added that Star Wars universe is very vast and it is “unbelievable to build games” in it.
During the conference, Jorgensen also talked about the mysterious new Bioware IP saying that it will be “more sci-fi-related”.
Aside from multiple characters from Star Wars movies, Star Wars Battlefront 2 singleplayer campaign will also feature multiple Star Wars eras. EA CEO Andrew Wilson specifically called out to The Force Awakens and Rogue One films but did not confirm that locations or characters from these movies will be added to the game.
Visceral Games is also working on a Star Wars game and former uncharted director, Amy Hennig, will be directing the game. According to Amy, the new Star Wars game will be spiritually similar to Uncharted series. She insisted that it won’t be “Star Wars uncharted” and said that it is an important distinction to be made.
The new Star Wars game from Visceral Games will be an action adventure title and is speculated to launch in 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
