Microsoft announced the Xbox One Scorpio during its E3 presentation and since then it is one of the most discussed console on the internet. While Xbox One Scorpio will definitely have an upper hand on PS4 Pro when released, which is something that analysts agree on but, despite the assurance from Phil Spencer about the price for the console, according to industry analyst price is the only factor that will cause the demise of Xbox One Scorpio.
Speaking with We Write Things, Michael Goodman, director of digital media strategies at Strategy Analytics, said that Microsoft has played it brilliantly as there is nothing Sony can do or say about Xbox One Scorpio that it is not powerful.
Sony had to get the jump on [Microsoft]. If they come into the marketplace at the same time Scorpio does, as it is, you’ve lost the spec battle. The more I think about it, the more I believe it was absolutely brilliant what Microsoft did in their announcement. There’s nothing that Sony can do or say that Scorpio is not more powerful.
However, recently Mark Cerny did criticized Microsoft’s upcoming console by saying that a minimum of 8 TFLOPS is required for 4K gaming.
Goodman further added that the only thing that would kick Xbox One Scorpio out of the market will be its price, and Microsoft has quite some time before they announce it.
The only thing they could do is price themselves out of the market. [Microsoft] doesn’t have to announce that for quite sometime.
Most probably Microsoft will announce the price for Xbox One Scorpio at E3 2017, but until then Sony has the upper hand with PS4 Pro which launches on November 10.2016.
