Rumor: PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 4.0 Brings Folders

PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 4.0 may release with folders according to an insider source. PSN name change is also a possibility.

PlayStation 4 Firmware Update 4.0 features are yet to be detailed but like always the rumor mill has generated a very interesting new rumor, claiming the update will add folders to the mix.

An insider source revealed that PlayStation 4 users will be able to compile their media and games into different folders instead of navigating through the entire gaming library. You will be able to create folders to categorize your games or media.

This rumor is in-line with a previous report based on a PlayStation survey.

Sony invited many PlayStation users to participate and let it know which features they would like to see in firmware update 4.0

  • Notification when friends are online
  • PS2 Classics
  • Folders
  • PS1 Classics
  • Appear Offline mode
  • Hide and remove items from library
  • Delete items from library.
  • Filtering option in game libraries
  • Download Avatars on PS4
  • Custom background
  • Store with wishlist
  • Increase Max no. of people in party
  • Change PSN ID

As you can see folders feature is in that survey so it looks like Sony may have decided to add it. Moreover, another notable feature in the list is PSN name change. This has to be the most demanded feature on PSN but hasn’t been added since PS3 days.

Hopefully, Sony will finally allow us to change our PSN ID with PlayStation 4 firmware update 4.0.
