Horizon Zero Dawn Release Date Still In 2016

Horizon: Zero Dawn

A few weeks ago, a rumor began to circulate that Horizon: Zero Dawn, the new open-world post-apocalyptic game from Guerrilla Games, had been delayed to the first quarter of 2017. However, a flyer included with French copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End says that the Horizon Zero Dawn release date is still on track for 2016.

Horizon Zero Dawn will be the first original IP from Guerrilla Games ever since it released its first-person shooter Killzone, the first in the four-game series that came out in 2004 and was announced (rather prematurely as it turns out) as a “Halo killer.”

The game, which was unveiled at E3 2015 and wowed people with its unique setting, graphics, and enemies (including a mechanical T-rex equipped with missiles), focuses around a young woman named Aloy in what appears to be post-apocalyptic Colorado, in the United States.

Equipped with a number of arrows that can do things like explode or deliver electric shocks to targets, Aloy must gather materials from her fallen prey to take back to her tribe.

While the Uncharted 4 flyer doesn’t name a specific time, the Horizon Zero Dawn release date is still slated for some time this year. Depending on whether it’s there or not, we may get more information at E3 next month.

The game is slated to be coming out for the Playstation 4, most likely the better to take advantage of the PS4’s greater hardware and higher resolution to bring out its good graphics.

It can also help to drive sales of the console by putting out yet another exclusive game, which its main competitor, the Xbox One, has had trouble matching.

While we still have no idea of the Horizon Zero Dawn release date, it’s good to know that we’ll be able to play it sometime this year, rather than having to wait on it because of delays.
